Mistakes are opportunities to learn.

No matter how much you love your child, there will be moments of anger, frustration, or even desperation. What do you do when facing these challenges? Positive Discipline gives you a toolbox of tools and an understanding that you can use to solve problems long-term, connect with your child, and help them feel a deep sense of worthiness.

What is Positive Discipline?

Positive discipline is based on the theories of Alfred Adler and Rudolf Dreikurs, and brought to life by Jane Nelsen and Lynn Lott in this experiential training. It is based on a core understanding of the need to feel belonging and significance, and children’s misbehavior when this need feels unmet. Teaching Positive Discipline involves role-play and experiential activities to help parents feel and learn new tools.

Who is Dr. Carroll?

My name is Paul Carroll. I have a Ph.D. in Psychology, am a certified Positive Discipline parenting educator, and have published several studies on Positive Discipline parenting classes, including here and here. I am also a parent just trying to do my best, just like you! I don’t recall being given a manual on parenting, when I became a parent — but reading Positive Discipline and seeing it put in practice is pretty close.
